TEP reports a record number of scam calls in February
TEP customers have reported more than double the amount of scam calls received throughout the month of February.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A record amount of Tucson Electric Power (TEP) customers have reported being contacted by scammers through out the month of February.

TEP is warning customers to be careful of new phone scams which have reached a reported 225 residential and commercial customers.

According to a news release, the calls follow a familiar pattern where scammers claim to work for TEP and attempt to steal customers' money. This is often done by threatening to disconnect service for unpaid bills and instructing the customer to make a payment over the phone.

If you are contacted by a "TEP employee" who takes on an angry or urgent tone, simply hang up, according to TEP spokespeople.

For more information, TEP's Customer Care team can be reached at 520-623-7711
