Outage causes confusion about 911 system in Pima County

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A statewide phone service outage affecting Cox Communications customers is causing some confusion about how it's affecting the 911 system in Pima County.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department tweeted that the 911 system is functioning. However, they have experienced issues with calling out.

The Pima County Office of Emergency Management tweeted a message that the county is experiencing intermittent problems with its 911 system.

If you are unable to reach the Sheriff's Department via 911, an alternate number to call is 520-351-4900.
