SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is investigating a threat to Rio Rico High School that it received reports about on Monday, Feb. 26.

According to a SCCSO news release, deputies spoke with the parties involved in the threat and determined there was no viable threat.

"The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office takes all threats seriously and actively investigated these claims. Currently there are numerous deputies, to include our Criminal Investigations Division, School Resource Officers, and Rio Rico High School Security Staff patrolling the school."  according to a statement in the release.

The SCCSO is utilizing all resources at its disposal to safeguard the schools and community across the county.  They encourage the community to be aware of its surroundings and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
