PHOENIX (Tucson News Now) -

For their 20th anniversary season, the Arizona Diamondbacks are making some exciting changes to the franchise.

Bullpen Carts

Once a part of baseball lore, the team is bringing back the use of of bullpen carts to bring in relief pitchers for both teams at Chase Field.

"Fans of baseball in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and even the 90s enjoyed watching their favorite players emerge from the bullpen in various vehicles and we're excited for this special delivery to come to Chase Field," said Derick Hall, the D-Backs President and CEO.

The use of the carts is believed to have been started by the Cleveland Indians in the 1950s with a "little red wagon" and teams across the league continued to evolve the transportation method until it stopped in 1995, three years before the Diamondbacks first season.
