TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Today's Hometown Hello goes out to the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation.
It is a non-profit organization run by volunteers that is dedicated to the health and wellness of local firefighters. GTFF provides over 1,800 Arizona firefighters with free skin cancer testing and cardiac screenings, helping to prevent two of the leading causes of death for First Responders.
The GTFF recently spent over $100,000 to build its skin cancer prevention capability.
With this program, GTFF joined only two other organizations nationally – the Mayo Clinic and Walter Reed Memorial Hospital – that offer cancer screening with DermSpectra technology.
Through the recently purchased equipment, GTFF will be able to more effectively diagnose skin cancer and enable earlier treatment; saving lives.
