TUCSON, AZ - Home runs from Alyssa Palomino and Dejah Mulipola were part of UA's nine-run 13-hit attack to back Taylor McQuillin's one-hitter as 0th ranked Arizona opened the Wildcat Invitational with a 9-1, five-inning victory over South Dakota on Thursday night at Hillenbrand Stadium.
Palomino, who got her first career start as UA's leadoff hitter, went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
McQuillin (12-1) was dominant once again in the circle. She struck out nine in her one-hit effort. She did see her 30.1 consecutive scoreless innings streak come to an end on a solo homer to lead off the third.
Arizona (16-2) plated five in the fifth to walk off with the win.
The Wildcats play two games on Friday against Wisconsin (1 p.m.) and San Diego (3 p.m.).
