TRAFFIC ALERT: Congestion on southwest side after motorcycle crash
Drivers are urged to avoid Valencia and Cardinal Saturday night.

PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Drivers should avoid the intersection of W. Valencia Road and S. Cardinal Avenue for several hours Saturday night, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

A motorcycle and a van crashed there, according to PCSD spokesman Deputy Cody Gress. He said deputies responded to the scene by 6:30 p.m.

The motorcycle rider was seriously hurt, according to Gress. He said a passenger in the van suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to the hospital.

The initial investigation found that the van was traveling westbound on Valencia, turning south onto Cardinal. The motorcycle was heading east on Valencia when the two collided, according to Gress.

He said traffic teams will be on scene for several hours, so drivers should avoid it if possible.
