COCHISE COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Candidates running for office in the 2018 elections can now view the number of signatures they need on their petitions.
The Cochise County Elections Department has posted the signature requirement on its website at https://www.cochise.az.gov/elections/2018-candidates-forms-information
Countywide Offices up for election this year include Superior Court Judge, Clerk of the Superior Court, Justice of the Peace, Constable, Cochise College District, School and Special Districts, and Precinct Committeemen.
"We are committed to making candidates' run for political office as simple and less legally challenging as possible by providing clear and concise information regarding what is required of them," said Elections Director Lisa Marra. "We realized after initially posting the signature requirements the format wasn't as clear as it could be for candidates. We have since revised those spreadsheets to make it absolutely clear how many signatures each candidate needs for the partisan race they are running for in 2018."
The filing deadlines, along with other information about running for a County office, are located on the website at cochise.az.gov/elections
