TUCSON, AZ - No. 2 seed Pima defeated 11th-seed Delta (MI) 102-94 Friday night in Danville, Illinois to earn a spot in the program's first NJCAA Division II national championship game.
Sophomore Alize Travis fell short of a triple-double as he finished with 21 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds. Sophomore Isaiah Murphy (Cienega) scored 20 points and went 3-for-6 from three-point range.
The bench came through again for the Aztecs as they scored 35 points. Freshman Jeremiah Bailey led the way with 16 points while Abraham Carrasco (Cholla) scored nine points in two and half minutes and finished the game with 15 points.
It will be the top two seeds of the tournament waging war as the Aztecs (31-4) play No. 1 Triton College (IL) (32-4) for the crown on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Tucson time.
