THINK ABOUT IT EDITORIAL: March For Our Lives - Listen to the kids

This past weekend, young people around the country, including here in Tucson, marched to demand Washington D.C. take action to prevent mass shootings.

We'll likely disagree about whether or not we need more gun laws, but let's leave that debate aside for a moment and focus on another question.

People have asked, why we should listen to teenagers who aren't old enough to vote?

First, they eventually WILL be voters.  Second, we didn't know our First Amendment had an age requirement.  And third, how many of us who are old enough to vote actually did so in the last election?

Studies show about HALF the people who are eligible to vote actually cast a ballot in a major election.

So before we ask about young people who can't vote, maybe it's time we ask about adults who DON'T.
