SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Head on Collision

A Sierra Vista man riding a motorcycle died in a head-on collision that occurred on Friday, March 30, near the intersection of State Route 92 and Saint Andrews Drive.

The motorcyclist, 44-year-old Sierra Vista resident David Phillips, was riding southbound on State Route 92 when he was struck head-on by a minivan being driven by 21-year-old Sierra Vista resident Branden Puffer.

The minivan was traveling northbound on State Route 92 when Puffer entered a southbound lane while making a left turn onto Saint Andrews Drive, resulting in the collision.

While the case is still pending inspection by an accident reconstruction specialist, no citations have been given. 
 
Sheriff's Vehicle Vandalized

A Cochise County Sheriff's vehicle was vandalized while providing security for a new building under construction in Sierra Vista on Monday night.

A fully marked Sheriff's vehicle was parked at the Lawley Nissan that evening and reported damaged around 10:30 p.m. that night.

According to a press release, officers discovered the car with the back window shattered by a large rock, the side mirrors busted off, and large dents in the doors caused by a pipe or bar.
