MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A small brush fire burned about an acre in Marana Wednesday afternoon, according to a fire department spokesman.

Brian Keeley, spokesman for the Northwest Fire Department, said the blaze was near North Coachline Boulevard and West Twin Peaks Road.

"The grass is only 6 inches long, but the dry conditions and wind were enough to spread the fire," the NWFD said in a tweet. "Now is the time to create a defensible space around your home, fire season is upon us."
