TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The funny car is in Tucson.

This weekend’s United Nitro Funny Car event out at Tucson Dragway is the kickoff of the race organizations 2018 United States/Canadian Tour which is being billed as the Good Vibrations Championship Series.

It’s also the first time in many years that funny cars have raced at night at Tucson Dragway. Racing begins at 6 p.m. Friday night and 10 a.m. on Saturday.

UNFC had a tune-up event in Bakersfield in March that was won by Bobby Cottrell of Whittier, California.

Cottrell will compete in Tucson this weekend and you can see his interview with our Evan Schreiber tonight on FOX 11 Tucson News at 9 and KOLD News 13 at 10.

UNFC will also hold events this summer in Spokane and Kent, Washington as well as above the border in Edmonton, British Columbia.
