Six home runs, dominant pitching lead to sweep for #13 Arizona Softball

TUCSON, AZ - No. 13 Arizona hit six home runs, two each from Dejah Mulipola and Alyssa Palomino, and swept New Mexico State in a doubleheader on Wednesday night at Hillenbrand Stadium, 7-3 and 9-0 (5).

In Game 1, Alyssa Palomino and Jessie Harper each hit two-run homers while Mulipola brought in three runs with her two homers.

Taylor McQuillin (19-8), who brought a no-hitter into the fifth-inning, got the victory in the circle. She allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits with 10 strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Alyssa Denham (6-3) tossed a two-hit shutout. She allowed two hits in her second shutout of the season while striking out a season-high eight.

Alyssa Palomino and Ivy Davis each hit two-run home runs in the game to lead the offense. For Palomino, it was her second homer of the doubleheader and her Pac-12-best 14th of the year.

Arizona (28-12, 6-9) returns to action on Friday in Tempe, Arizona, where they begin a three-game series with No. 8 Arizona State (34-7, 8-4).
