TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson bus drivers, custodians, maintenance personnel and educators are coming together Wednesday afternoon, April 25, to "stand in solidarity to address the extreme financial needs of education across the state of Arizona," according to a news release.

The group, known as AFSCME 449, announced that it would be holding a protest rally stretching along Broadway Boulevard from downtown to Houghton Road from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The protestors said that education support professionals and staff are underpaid and have been left out of the pay increase conversation plan by proposed legislators.

"Governor (Doug) Ducey needs to recognize his so-called 20 by 20 proposal to teachers only (sic) does not address the dire need of education in Arizona," Jason Freed, President of Tucson Education Association, said in the release.

The education support staff welcome community members to join the rally.
