Flowing Wells wins 1st baseball playoff game in 11 years

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

It took 11 years but Flowing Wells is back in the playoff win column.

The 3rd-seed Caballeros beat visiting Gilbert Williams Field 4-1 Saturday afternoon to advance to the second round of the Conference 5A state baseball tournament.

It’s Flowing Wells first post-season win since 2007 when the Cabs advanced to the Elimination bracket semifinals of the 5A Division II state tournament.

The Caballeros (18-8) will face Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep in the 2nd round Monday at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa.

The Black Hawks (15-14) season comes to an end as a result of the single-elimination 1st round format.

The second round now begins double-elimination play in Conferences 6A, 5A and 4A.
