TUCSON, AZ -

Mason Myhre helped hang a star on the final day of the 2018 junior college baseball season for Pima as the freshman tossed a no-hitter in Game 1 of a doubleheader split with Chandler-Gilbert at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.

The Aztecs (21-31, 11-29 in ACCAC) won the opener 7-1 behind the Canyon del Oro grad who gave up one run (one earned) with 11 strikeouts and three walks.

Marcus Mendez (Desert View HS) had a two-run double.

The Aztecs fell the Coyotes (23-33, 10-30) 4-2 in Game 2 to end the season.

PCC had 10 sophomores and 16 freshmen on this year’s squad.

Meanwhile the Aztecs softball team was swept (6-2, 23-9) by South Mountain in the series finale doubleheader.

Both Chandler Arviso and Mya Cabral went 3-for-3 in Game 2. Arvis drove in a pair of runs.

Pima (35-23, 26-22) finished two games behind Central Arizona College for the final spot in the Region I, Division I tournament.
