UPDATE: TPD releases name of victim in homicide near 36th Street, Country Club

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Detectives with the Tucson Police Department Gang Unit are investigating a homicide in the 2500 block of South Treat Avenue, near 36th Street and Country Club.  

According to Sgt. Dugan, a man was walking in the neighborhood and found another man, identified as 37-year-old Osachafo Jamal Brewer, on the ground in front of a house around 12:30 p.m.

TPD was called and officers responded to the scene, they found Brewer with obvious gunshot trauma, he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The TPD Gang unit was called out due to Brewer's possible gang affiliations, according to Dugan. Although police are not saying the homicide is gang-related.  

Neighbors told officers that they heard what might have been gunshots around midnight Wednesday, but did not call 911.  

According to Dugan there is no suspect in custody at this time.  

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME, where you can remain anonymous.
