De la Torre will be sentenced Monday, July 2.

The Tucson Police Department said the 2016 incident began when officers tried to stop de la Torre, who was on a bike.

The TPD said the 35-year-old de la Torre refused to stop and shot at officers during a chase.

One of the bullets from de la Torre's handgun grazed the head of a TPD officer.

The officer was not seriously injured and was treated and released from a local hospital.

De la Torre was shot multiple times during the exchange but survived.

The TPD said de la Torre, who had a criminal history before the shooting, had cocaine on him when he was arrested.

According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, de la Torre has already served time for aggravated assault and attempted flight from law enforcement.
