BEND, OR (Tucson News Now) - Oregon authorities said a 1-year-old boy was found naked and lying in dirt on the forest floor about six hours after being abandoned by his father.

According to a news release, the boy's father, Brandon Blouin, an 18-year-old woman and the child were living in a vehicle parked near the forest in Deschutes County.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office said the woman walked away from the vehicle and left the child with Blouin.

After the woman failed to return, Blouin took his son with him to go look for her.

During the search, Blouin placed the child on the ground and left him.

The DCSO said Blouin was under the influence of drugs at the time but eventually found a homeowner and asked them to call 911.

The child was found about six hours later.

The 25-year-old Blouin was arrested charges of assault, criminal mistreatment, child neglect and endangering the welfare of a minor. Authorities said the assault charge stems from an injury the boy suffered while in Blouin's care.
