MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Leaders with the Marana Unified School District broke ground on a new K-8 school in the Dove Mountain community Friday morning, May 18.
The school will specialize in CSTEM – Computer Science, Technology, Education and Math – and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019.
District officials said they hope the school will relieve enrollment growth in the community. It was funded by a capital improvement school bond approved by voters in 2014.

Located off Moore Road, the school will include a media room, a lab and outside learning areas.
Parents like Marie Henson are intrigued by the new features and are considering sending their kids to the school once it opens its doors.
"If I knew they were getting all new and better, and it would be exciting, I'd be all for it. I think [my children] would like it too," Henson said.
