14th seed Arizona Softball leaps into Super Regionals

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

#14 seed Arizona has advanced to their 13th Super Regional in program history with a 4-3 win Sunday over Mississippi State at Hillenbrand Stadium.

The Wildcats got 5 and 2/3 innings of no-hit relief pitching from Taylor McQuillin, who retired the first 13 batters she faced.

The junior lefthander did not allow a run in three NCAA Regional outings (19.2 IP), giving up just six hits and striking out 22.

Jenna Kean had a bases loaded walk and Ashleigh Hughes added a two-run single in a three-run first inning for Arizona.

Aleah Craighton's RBI single in the fifth broke a 3-3 tie.

Alyssa Denham started in the circle for Arizona but was pulled after allowing three solo home runs to the Bulldogs.

UA will head to Westwood for Super Regionals. UCLA rallied with a pair of wins Sunday over Cal State Fullerton to advance to the Round of 16 beating the Titans and pitcher Trish Parks, who began her collegiate career winning 16 games for the Wildcats in 2015.
