WATCH: Mt. Lemmon telescope detects small asteroid before impact

Astronomers said a small asteroid might have struck Earth's Atmosphere on Saturday.

Astronomy website, EarthSky, said that there were reports of sightings of a bright meteor, as well as a video, that may be related to the event from Barend Swanepoel in South Africa on Saturday morning, June 2, 2018.

The asteroid was first detected by the Catalina Sky Survey team monitoring a telescope on Mount Lemmon.

The object has been given the temporary designation of ZLAF9B2.
