TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - UPDATE: On Friday June 8, the US Marshal's located 37-year-old Daniel Miller in Phoenix, AZ, according to a release from the Tucson Police Department. Miller injured himself attempting to flee from authorities but was taken into custody.
He was transported to a local Phoenix hospital, TPD said. He will be booked into jail on the felony arrest warrant for one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Domestic Violence/Attempted Murder.
The Tucson Police Department has released the names of the suspect and the man killed in a shooting on the south side that took place early Thursday morning.
A man and a woman were shot in a neighborhood in the 200 block of West Illinois Street, according to TPD. 54-year-old Michael Grove and the woman were both taken to the hospital, where Grove later died. The woman, whose identity has not been released, remains in critical/stable condition according to TPD.
Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said the shooting does not appear to be random.
After speaking with the woman at the hospital and witnesses at the scene, detectives were able to determine Grove was visiting the woman at her home when her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Daniel Miller arrived.
According to TPD, sometime after arriving, Miller pulled out a handgun and shot both victims. He then fled the scene in a dark colored pick-up truck.
Detectives obtained a felony arrest warrant on Daniel Benjamin Miller for one count of First Degree Murder and one count of DV/Attempted Murder.
Miller is considered to be armed and dangerous. Detectives are asking anyone with information on Miller's whereabouts to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
