PCSD: Human remains found in desert west of Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

On Thursday, June 7, 2018, at about 1:30 p.m., Pima County Search and Rescue and Patrol deputies responded to a report of human remains found in a remote desert location near Manville Road.

Upon arrival, deputies were led to a human skull. Deputies collected the remains and conducted a thorough search of the area. No other human remains were discovered and the skull was transported to the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner – Forensic Science Center. The medical examiner was able to determine it was the skull of an adult.

According to Humaneborders.info, at least 40 migrants’ remains have been collected in remote areas of Pima County, such as this one, since the beginning of the year.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department responds to and investigates all calls and would urge the public not to continue to call the department, or the 911 system, to report instances which have already been reported, as this can flood the reporting system and delay vital responses to emergency situations.

Anyone with information about a crime in progress, or with an emergency, is urged to call 911.
