COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Giving birth is a big deal, but it might be even more special when you do it alongside a sibling who is going through the same thing.

Sisters Mara Meighan and Jennifer Solis went into labor on the same day last week while under the care of the staff at Piedmont Columbus Regional.

What makes this story even crazier is that they both gave birth at nearly the same time.

It has brought us way closer than we were before,” said Mara Meighan.

Mara had a baby girl named Ana Grace and Jennifer had a baby boy named Marco, which may be the only difference in these two sisters’ experience.

The sisters even were neighbors in the labor and delivery ward of the hospital.

But like most things, the two sisters, say it wasn’t planned at all.

“I found out I was pregnant and then, she found out like a week and a half later. It was a surprise to everyone,” said  Solis.

The two Phenix City sisters are now home and settling into their growing families. They hope the two cousins will share a special bond.

Piedmont Columbus Regional adds that the sisters also had their first children around the same time as each other nine years ago.

Both babies and moms are happy and healthy.

The sisters say they are not planning to have twin-cousins anymore.

"I want a girl, but she's done!," said Solis.
