TUCSON TALKS: Mastering the Monsoon

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Monsoon is one of the most unique things about southern Arizona.

A season of storms and humidity and weather changes that doesn't exist anywhere else in our country.

It's simultaneously amazing, dangerous, annoying and impressive.

Every monsoon, some people need to be rescued as water floods their streets and cars. High winds cause damage to our homes and roads.

But there's also beauty in the storms. People come from all over the world to take pictures of the massive lightning storms.

For this week's Tucson Talks podcast, Craig Thomas spoke to KOLD News 13 Chief Meteorologist Lisa Villegas about what monsoon is, what we have to watch out for and the forecast for this season.

Thomas also spoke to storm photographer Greg McCown. He's one of the great photographers who go out and capture the storms in all their glory.
