D-M's Peach makes impressive showing at 1st Warrior Games

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Davis-Monthan Airman TSgt. Derrall Peach Jr. won seven medals earlier this month at The Warriors Games in Colorado Springs, CO.

The Warrior Games, staged by the United States Department of Defense, are an adaptive athletics competition for servicepeople in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Special Operation Command.

The 34-year old won a gold medal in 50m backstroke swimming, silver medals in the standing shot put, discus, 50m, 100m and 200m relay freestyle swimming events, and a bronze medal in powerlifting (107 kg).

Peach competed in the visually impaired division.

2018 was the first time the Las Vegas-native had taken part in the annual games. He lost central and peripheral vision in his right eye as the result of an illness in January 2017.

Peach has been in the Air Force for 15 years with the last four stationed at D-M here in Tucson.
