TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Looking for that 'purr'fect feline friend?  Pima Animal Care Center is holding a special adoption special that will help.

Over the last several weeks PACC has had a consistent daily cat census that exceeds 200 animals, according to a recent release. While this is normal for this time of year, PACC officials would rather see the kitties in forever homes.

In an effort to reduce that number, PACC is reducing adoption fees for cats to $5 that will last from now to July 22.

"We’re in the middle of kitten season, which means we have a good variety of adoptable cats and kittens every day," said PACC Director of Animal Services Kristen Auerbach, in the news release.

This special $5 adoption fee applies to all cats, including kittens (that normally have a $50 adoption fee). This new, lower fee is all-inclusive, to cover the adopted cat’s spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and a free vet visit, too.

Interested in a new furry feline buddy, stop by PACC during normal working hours which are Monday to Friday from noon to 7 p.m. or on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Not sure about committing to a forever pet? Consider PACC’s foster-to-adopt program instead. This program gives potential adopters the opportunity to house a pet temporarily while they determine if it’s the right fit for their family or lifestyle. Individuals interested in foster-to-adopt can ask a PACC adoption counselor or foster coordinator for more information.
