LSP: Man killed in deputy-involved shooting in Livingston Parish

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that left a man dead early Friday morning. 

Troopers identified the man who was killed as Jackey Sampson, 43, of Denham Springs.

Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations was contacted by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting, LSP said.

The deputy has reportedly been temporarily reassigned.

Deputies from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in the Richmond Place Subdivision in Denham Springs around 1 a.m.

LSP said Sampson was armed when deputies tried to investigate the situation and shots were fired.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. 

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A and the Louisiana State Police Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

This is an active investigation and no other information is available at this time.
