TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The monsoon rains are causing trouble not only on the ground, but in the air as well.

A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Phoenix was diverted to Tucson because of weather around 1 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10.

According to Tucson International Airport spokeswoman Jessie Butler, there was an "unruly" passenger that was not following directions of the flight crew. Staff on board alerted Tucson Airport Authority police who took him off the plane when it landed in Tucson.

Butler did not know if the person was arrested upon arrival or just removed from flight.

Butler said removing an unruly passenger is not unusual.

The plane continued to Phoenix shortly before 2:30 a.m. after investigators interviewed witnesses.
