TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Eighth Annual Coaches for Charity Kickoff Classic is the official start of high school football season highlighting eight teams in a four-game event.

The Kickoff game to be held Thursday, August 16 features Ironwood Ridge at Marana Mountain View.

Spotlight games to be held Friday, August 17 include Cholla at Nogales; Vista Grande at Sahuaro; and Casa Grande at Palo Verde.

All games start at 7pm.

This year's Signature Coach Award Recipient is UA Football alum and 9-year NFL defensive back Randy Robbins

Robbins is the current Athletics Director at Casa Grande, his alma mater.

The 55-year old had twelve career interceptions at Arizona. In 1982, Robbins led Pac-10 with six interceptions was 2nd Team All Pac-10 in 1983.

A fourth-round selection (89th overall pick) in the 1984 NFL Draft, Robbins played for the Denver Broncos for eight seasons including three Super Bowls (1984–1991) and the New England Patriots (1992).

In his NFL career he recorded 8 sacks as a defensive back and 13 career interceptions.

Casa Grande is on the move this season to Southern Arizona. The Cougars, along with crosstown rival Vista Grande, as a part of the latest AIA realignment are now in the Conference 4A Kino Division and will be competing against last year's 4A state runner-up Salpointe Catholic as well as Catalina Foothills, Sahuaro and Canyon del Oro.
