UPDATE: Abducted teen is safe, suspect in custody

SURPRISE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Early Sunday morning, 14 year-old Aubrey Gardner was abducted near Cactus and Reems Road in Surprise, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety.

AZDPS blasted out the alert just after 4:30 a.m. on September 9.

Before 6:30 p.m. the same day, state troopers canceled the alert because Gardner was found safe.

Surprise Police Department suspected 21-year-old Jonathan Ricarrdo Carson of the abduction. He is the subject of an outstanding felony warrant for deserting military service. His last known address was in Sierra Vista.

Surprise Police Department reported Carson as possibly being suicidal.

An update from investigators Sunday stated that the two were located in Mesquite, Nevada near the Arizona state line. A post to the Surprise Police Department Facebook page stated that both were in custody and initial reports found Gardner was unharmed.

They are still investigating the circumstances of her abduction.
